Smother – Season 1, 2 & 3
Following the huge success of its first season, SMOTHER is back with a second series (Season 3 due to air end 2022) as Dervla Kirwan reprises her role as family matriarch Val, with her three strong-willed daughters played by Gemma-Leah Devereux, Niamh Walsh and Seána Kerslake.
We were delighted to be working with Rob Walpole and Rebecca O’Flanagan of Treasure Entertainment and director Dathaí Keane again on the latest season of this celtic noir thriller, which was such a big hit when it aired on RTE and BBC early in 2021.
Editor John O’Connor returns on this series and was joined on editing duties by Oisin O’Connell, with Mark Henry, Andy Kirwan, and Fionan Higgins handling the sound, Matt Branton on colour/grade, Robbie O’Farrell on online, Aidan O’Leary on graphics and Aaron Carroll at the helm as post supervisor.
Written by Kate O’Riordan and filmed in County Clare, it continues the gripping tale of the Ahern family as they deal with an unwelcome visitor whose arrival in Lahinch shakes things up – again – for Val and her family. Finn Ahern arrives unannounced claiming to be her dead ex-husband Denis’ estranged son. What will this unwelcome surprise mean for the family and will this new arrival break up the family Val has fought so hard to protect?
All will be revealed when the second series airs early in 2022.
